I agree with you when you say: "However, "we" live in the real world. People are going to "go off" for various reasons." That will always happen. However, think about what you will accomplish when you respond to someone who "goes off". Will you really accomplish anything? Will your response help the hobby? Maybe it is better to just publicly ignore anyone who "goes off". You can try responding in private and see if that helps.
