To Everyone,
I noticed an individual who posts on this board became offended when another individual who also posts on this board used the word "guinea" in describing a type of under shirt.
I wish to share with you a conversation I had with Red Foxx many years ago in the Sahara Keno lounge. Red said he was concerned that the American people were begining to lose the ability to laugh at themself. Everyone was becoming sooooooo serious and politically correct. Individuals were taking offense to the most harmless of statements used in a joking manner. He believed the problem came from a combination of two factors:
1) A poor self image
2) Conditioning through childhood to be sensitive to ones heritage.
I don't know whether Red was correct but it sure made sense at that time. He closed our conversation with the following statement "see you around Pollack". I laughed till I cried and realized he made a point that will always stay with me. Red died a few months later.
Best, Mr."P"
