My guess is that if people take advantage of it then it will someday end and no one will benefit.
If no one takes advantage of this opportunity then no one gets any money... (I have been using it anually for 25 years to 2 colleges, a cerabal palsey center, and a childrens trauma center)
Play by the rules and everyone wins.
I ASSURE you I am full in compliance (I make too much annually to jepordize it over a few bucks for a school) plus any grants go before corporate scrutiny. They don't just give to anyone for any reason, there is a two page qualification list.
I think as long as I charge a price they (the school) would pay without basing it on getting a donation I think there is no problem, only when I charge an unreasonable amount and they pay based on knowlege of a return donation does it become questionable or unethical (actually fraud I would think). TO put it in perspective I could make a cash donation with a company grant, weeks later appear as a paid speaker, and keep the money and go home. Then the two events are not connected. THe ethics does not change, nor to the guidleines for the grant (they get the mnoney either way). If they qualify I see no reason for them not to get funds.
