Memorial Day Weekend Fri. I visited Chumash Casino in Santa Ynez, CA.
The new casino construction is just about complete on the outside with only final landscaping and access road work to complete. They said the inside is also coming along well. Originally said to be opening in Oct.,that was moved up to Sept.Now they are projectiong opening the new casino in mid-Aug. 2003. The staff indicated they expect a new rack of chips when the move to the new building is made. The new casino will have 2000 slots and 64 table games plus Bingo. The new parking structure is done and in use. The construction of the Hotel will begin after the move to the new casino is complete. The Hotel will be constructed on the ground where the old casino now stands.
