Stamps, baseball cards, and coins are issued in the "Millions." Everybody can get one. Our hobby is young and growing. Future chippers will not be able to get LE issues without paying a premium, same as obsolete chips.
I am not going to debate whether LE's are good for the hobby or not. I think the jury is still out on that one. Only time will tell. I do think that it is good in the fact that a new collector can amass a nice collection at face. Let him decide for himself.
If a chipper thinks LE's are bad for the hobby, he can still collect rack and obsolete chips. Something for everyone! I think this is good for the hobby. If LE's prove to be a good thing this chipper will be sorry, if they prove to be worthless, he can always say " I told you so".
LE's can not ruin the hobby, they can only go away, if they prove to be uncollectable. If they go away, then they will be collectable, again! "Catch 22"
I think we should let the future of chip collecting "happen!"
BTW, I also think there are too many LE's.
