If you make a bet on the pass line after the comeout roll it is the same as a "put" bet. this is legal in almost all states you can "put" any number, but you can't do it in Atlantic City. I'm not sure why, but I lost an argument with a boxman at the Claridge on the topic after I made a line bet with odds after the comeout, it hit and they refused to pay.
