I used to have a pet tarantula! ...called him Wolf, fed him crickets and grasshoppers. He was a pretty docile animal around people. You could take the top of the terrarium off and pet him, let him crawl onto your hand.

He was pretty good at jumping when there was a cricket close by, could leap about three inches in any direction!
