8 Coppin State (Baltimore) students have brought a suit against the College because it refuses to give them a master's degree. Why did the college refuse? Because the students failed comprehensive examinations and/or submitted unsatisfactory theses. In one case the thesis was plagerized; in another it consisted of five pages. However, when the President of this fine institution was served with papers he called his faculty together and said he was going to pass them notwithstanding the plagerism and failed grades. Makes me proud to be a part of academe. Oh yes, the one student who did do the requisite work and will graduate properly has threatened to bring her own suit since her degree means nothing in light of Coppin State's action.
