Almost all of the chips in the auction could be had by walking into each of the casinos and getting them yourself. HOWEVER, there are many chips there from North Las Vegas casinos which would require you to take a cab from the strip at a cost of nearly $25.00 each way or a rental car. Then there are chips from Jean, Henderson, Boulder, etc.
As the others have already stated, there's a lot of shoe leather involved to get these chips. And an awful lot of time. It would easily take you 2-3 days of serious chipping to collect these chips.
Thosze three full days would be must better spent collecting some chips from other areas. The advice you've gotten here has been very sound. Go for it. Now that the Buy It Now isnt available any longer, you can wait it it and try of a decent price. There will be plenty of other auctions for collections such as this so dont get carried away with your bidding.
Let me be one of the first to welcome you to our world of chipping! Theres a great bunch of people here on the chip board. Always eager to help with even the silliest of questions.
You may want to consider coming to Vegas the end of the month for the HUGE casino chip convention! Its a MUST!! Also a great place to get your collection zoomed up at reasonable prices. Theres also going to be alot of trade sessions.
