I'll Take A Stab At It grin

IMHO, there is no real difference between a chip and a jeton. Jeton is French for gaming token or chip. B et G, a French company, made most of their chips of a celluloid or acrylic composition, which we call jetons, because that is what B et G and the French, call them. Most of the clay-shellack or injection-mold plastic pieces are US made and in the US, we call them chips or checks.

As for plaques, they are usually catagorized as any shape but round. Most plaques are rectangular, square or elliptical.
