Cards are prone to getting oily from player use and then picking up particulate matter from the tables (dust, etc.). This all transfers to the wheels/rollers in the shuffler, which then gums them up. Which is why they need constant cleaning.

I agree that they speed up the overall game (not each hand) but to me the best thing is an end to frequent set-ups! The Orleans restricts set-ups to once every two hours on those tables.

I have heard that the lease runs about $1,500 per week, but that is not from a competent source.
