One more point for Web Based Mail!
By the way, if your service doesn't provide this option, you can get to it from anywhere, any computer, any service...
Enter your name (full name please with @ service) and password, and you can view, and DELETE messages, without anything getting changed, or sent to your computer. Great for killing spam as well.
For my Prodigy, now SBC Yahoo account I need to use the secure option (same link as above) click secure connection and you will need to know your mail server. Mine is "pop.prodigy.yahoo.com" yours isn't a secret and probably already configured in your mail settings.
ANYWAY... (sorry for rambling) You can read, and delete your mail from anywhere, for free. I don't use this as much now because the new SBC offers web based mail, but anyone can KO spam and ads, and junk jokes from friends, and then go to your regular mail and download the messages that are left. It does not alter your mail, on your system, unless you direct it to do something.
There are others, I just happened to use this one.
I hope this tip saves you some time and trouble on the road. When I'm traveling I don't download ANY mail, and using three or four different computers, only one picks up mail, the rest are just used for connections and reading mail.
