When the Hotel Last Frontier opened in 1942, it was the second resort on the Strip (3120 Las Vegas Blvd South).

The Silver Slipper (briefly known as the Golden Slipper) opened in 1950 on one corner of the Last Frontier's property (3100 Las Vegas Blvd South).

The Last Frontier updated its name to the New Frontier in 1954.

Howard Hughes bought the Silver Slipper in 1968 during his late 60's casino shopping spree. The Slipper was finally leveled in 1988 to allow for expansion of the New Frontier's parking lot.
