Before you invest in another camera you might investigate some kind of supplemental lighting, other than flash, for indoor shots. I find that I have real problems photographing things (other than chips which I scan) for auction if I have to use the flash. I do have one room in the house with windows on two sides and I can sometimes get good quality there. But, recently I went to a camera shop and saw, but have not yet purchased, some supplemental lighting that is either synchronized with the camera, like a flash, or just additional illumination.
My guess would be that your camera is OK if you get good shots outdoors (i.e. good quality light).
