Well I didn't want to go to that extreme because it allows the non-believers to say "But that would never happen."
Of course its easy to pretend that these things can't happen here, but our history shows otherwise --- the genocide of Native Americans, Persecution of members of the Mormon Church ("On October 27, 1838, Missouri Governor Lilburn W. It stated that 'The Mormons must be treated as enemies and must be exterminated or driven from the state, if necessary for the public good. Their outrages are beyond all description. If you can increase your force, you are authorized to do so, to any extent you may think necessary.'"); and the "relocation" of Japanese-Americans during WWII all demonstrate that outrageous evil may be conducted right here. After 9/11 unknown numbers of Muslims were taken in custody without being given access to counsel, court, or family. How many are still in custody?
