I agree it is a bit extreme.

However, let me make 2 points.

1) These are terrorists not POWS
2) If correct, terrorism may have been stopped (in that instance, anyway). Such a disgusting method may have have saved many lives (innocent civilians as well as terrorists who weren't executed)

Again, most importanly -- there's a difference between terrorists and state sponsored armed services.
