To add to my previous response... I almost ALWAYS prefer chip lots. I feel I'm getting more value for my money. You usually see a better price per chip, and you defray the s&h costs among multiple chips. I often will just seach the chip category on "lot" to just get the lots :)
Also, I will RARELY ever bid on a chip that has a s&h cost of more than $1 ($1.50 at most). I just know that it doesn't cost more than that and am insulted by s&h costs of $2 or more.
Yes, I know about covering eBay fees, cost to obtain chip, etc. - but sellers should put that where it should be - in the price of the chip, not in the s&h fee.
And they shouldn't expect to charge me in the s&h for their gas and oil to the P.O., or gas to pick up their bubble mailers at Office Depot, or gas anywhere else. And what about oil for the car? And don't forget air in the tires - it's $.50 to run an air machine now! And don't forget the shoes on their feet and the shirt on their back - they can't very well deliver packages to the P.O. naked and barefooted now, can they?
If you can't tell, I for one don't feel a seller should try to recoup every little cost they incur, but if they do, again they should consider that in the price of the chip where it can be obvious - not hidden in a s&h fee where it might not be noticed until it's too late.
Hope this helps!
Will
P.S.
I'm NOT trying to re-open the thread on justifying high s&h costs. Really!
