Last year my "host" (how in the heck did I even get a host ) insisted that I contact him prior to coming to Vegas about comps and room accomododations... but I want to stay in the convention tower...

Being a Vegas rookie (I really am - still can't even figure out craps ) - would it be advisable to contact Phil at the Trop and squeeze out a deal? Or should I just make my reservations and not worry about it?
