In a past article in a chip magazine, I heard of this material discribed as "chip Munge". I wish I could think of the person who coined the phrase. It seems to me that there are usually two spots across from each other. I usually use a thumb nail and tooth past to remove the munge and clean the chip. I have noticed that paste toothpaste works much better than the gel (really). I have even tried the material called "gunk". I haven't noticed that it hurts the chip, but then I'm not sure if it is much better than the toothpaste, which I like. There is some liquid chip cleaner that is sold. I have been curious if it works well? Do you just dump a few chips in it and let them soak? Of course you have to be careful of using an abrasive like toothpaste on HotStamp chips. Is the liquid safer for these?
