I read the other replies and a lot of you made an excellent point:

Collecting chips is FUN, provides ENJOYMENT and
is usually a PLEASURE dealing/chatting/meeting fellow "chippers."

The aspect of montary appreciation of chips we collect is also important; but is NOT my primary goal in collecting. AND YES, my chips have retained more "value" than my investments in the market recently.
