Adobe Photoshop, including the 'LE', version works fine, Tom. I use the older version 5.0. You use the IMAGE drop-down menu to select CANVAS SIZE. You can make either the height or width larger (or both) and can choose to position the original image in the center or along any side of the new larger canvas. You then 'grab' the second image and drag it to wherever you want on the white canvas. At this point, it's on a separate 'layer' and can be manipulated independent of the original canvas and image. When you're finished, use the 'FLATTEN IMAGE' function under the 'LAYER' drop-down menu to make it a standard one layer image and save it as the file type you like, usually JPG. It's easier than it sounds [g].
