Hey Roy: Good question. For a period of about thirty years a drink at a bar cost a bit or 12 1/2 cents. Two bits was a quarter. So if you only had time for one drink or drank an uneven amount of drinks you were due change of 12 1/2 cents. Good for tokens were most often for 12 1/2 cents or just 2 1/2 cents so the bartender would give a dime and a token as change. The smarter bar owners would give 12 1/2 cent tokens so they could only be spent at their bar. See you the last Sunday of the month. Take care, Charlie.
