Postal regs concerning THEIR responsibilities are NOT your ticket out of being responsible for the product being delivered. You didn't insure it, you should have replaced it. 80% of my regular business is mailorder. If what I send is worth more than $50 via the USPS or more than $100 via UPS, I insure it. It isn't because I want to spend more money to make the transaction, its because I want the product to arrive as ordered.

Your deal didn't result in a product delivered, yet you kept all of his money. ...all of it. When you can justify that action, please do.
