Your FAQ answer on roulette chips says "All bets at a roulette table have the same value that is determined by the amount of the minimum bet of the table."

I'm NOT a roulette player, but I thought that someone could buy in for a higher value than the table minimum? e.g. if the table minimum is $1, I thought that I could buy in for $5 chips, and the dealers would use a marker on my color to indicate a different value?
