I only know that on Ebay you would win because I have recently won an auction this way. My bid was above the reserve and I was the only bidder, and when the auction finished it moved my bid to the reserve level. Of course in such a situation you would only know what the reserve (and hence your bid) will be when the auction finishes.

I have to admit that like a lot of people I do not usually bid on reserve auctions, but in this case it was an item I really wanted, and as it still came in lower than my max. bid I was happy with the outcome.
