Re: First Avenue Club-Chicago, IL

The address on the card is for Taylor & Co.
2248 S. Cicero. The last number in the address is very weak on the card. Could be another number.
Taylor is also a chip distributor, (T mold & Harp mold)
Mason Co (hub mold) hotstamped the chips and sent them to Taylor who sold them to the First Ave.
From the listing in TGT, I am assuming there is a First Avenue in Chicago. I am assuming the First Avenue Club is on First Avenue.
If there is no First Avenue in Chicago, then this will be one of those little mysteries that catches my attention and will have to be investigated. grin
Now, why did one distributor hotstamp chips for a 2nd distributor who could very well have hotstamped the chips theirself on their own mold, and make more money? Easy answer. The old distributors went to a lot of trouble to mask the buyers of illegal club operators in some cases. Many records have phoney names and use mail drops for addresses.
If in fact there is a First Avenue in Chicago area, the FAC could very well be tied to the Capone gang. There are more than likey Dice (funny Dice grin ).
Maybe Jeff or Rick will read this and let us know.
