I wish that I can say it's all because of my expert ability but I really don't do anything special.

The scanner I use is an EPSON PERFECTION 1250. I use the software that came with the scanner to do my scans. The only parameter that I changed from the default settings was the the DPI setting. I do all of my scans at 150 DPI.

The other nice thing that I like about the software that came with my EPSON scanner how I can input the size of my scan area. Instead of using a mouse to draw a box around each chip, I can tell the software that the object is 260 pixels by 260 pixels. Then I can drag that box around and center it over the chip to be scanned.
