James:
Maybe this is getting too technical, but how do you think the customer was able to cash these chips in when they leave the casino? In other words would you have to somehow "cash in" at the table (wether it's craps or 21). Because if the casino would make the chip different Denoms at different times, how would the person at the cage know how much to give the customer back in cash???
I had a little theory that these might be used more as markers. For instance, if you get a Blackjack at a 25¢ game, they would give you a quarter back and one of these markers. Then the next time you get a Blackjack, they would give you back two quarters, and take away your marker. This would allow the casino to make the chip whatever value they want. As well as eliminate the problem of cashing in the chips at the cage. (It's worth nothing until you get that 2nd blackjack) Plus it keeps the customer playing at the tables longer (after all the have to get another Blackjack to get their other quarter back!)
It's little things like this that really bother me, and I can't leave it alone until I get an answer. My wife just loves this part of me :-)
Thanks!
