The hobby is much bigger than just Las Vegas, where this 500 minimum chip policy supposedly has been put into effect.

NO Atlantic City casino has issued less than 500 chips to date for ANY denomination chip below $20 face value.

"The hobby" will survive just fine with this new "Rene rule" ... as Gene Trimble calls it. Hopefully, it will stop some of the past shenanigans that have taken place in Las Vegas where a few individuals have tied up entire releases of chips.

However, having said that, as we have recently witnessed in Atlantic City; because a casino places an order for 500 chips, does not mean that all 500 chips will be put out for sale to "the general public". There will always be "preferred players and customers" who receive preferential treatment and "hold-backs" in ALL gaming juristictions across the country.
