I assumed those machines are stocked by the casino, and that it must take hours to get the coins balanced right on the edge to make it look like it is ready to drop a whole bunch as soon as you put your 1 token in!

BTW - Did you try to sell the guy the Brooklyn Bridge before you left :-)
