$1.85 may not seem that high considering...

It's all too frequent to see eBay'ers charge $2.00 - $3.00 for mailing one chip! sad - If I feel that the price is too high on shipping then I don't bid on it. However, there are some rare cases where the bid on the chip stays low and I'm willing to pay the extra S/H to win the auction.

I've also sold a few chips on eBay and for a low volume seller the eBay costs can be somewhat prohibitive. For example, to list and sell an item at $9.99 you can will incur $0.82 in eBay charges. Now put that chip in a bubble mailer ($0.15 if bought in bulk) and add $0.49 for mailing. And if you have to drive to the Post Office to mail it add (gas + time). You see it does add up and if you want (expect) to recoup your costs for the auction and the mailing and get you need to charge around $1.50. So are we upset about the 35 cents?

High volume sellers whose auctions are their life business may include more in S/H charges to make up for ALL of their expenses. So I might understand that from a high volume seller.

Generally, if I know the person I am selling to (off eBay) then all I would charge is for actual postage. If trading, I don't charge for postage as the other party is spending the same. BUT - when dealing via a 2nd party auction then you must consider all the added costs. So does $1.85 still seem that high?
