I will tell you what I know about the VS and Villa Sierra. According to Howdy Herz' book of Harvey Fuller's lists of Nevada casino licenses, The Villa Sierra was at 4245 W. 4th St., Reno, 4-1-44 to 1-31-52. Games were SL, 21, CR, RL, PK. The owners are not listed in Fuller, but I have learned from various articles that the Villa Sierra was owned by Bill Harrah and Virgil T. Smith (also owner of Colbrandt's and connected to many other Reno clubs.)
John Benedict found the $5 yellow VS chips a few years ago, as noted in his response to your post. I believe that his accounts from the ladies that he bought from, are true. Neither John nor anyone else has ever said that these chips have been confirmed as being from the Villa Sierra. However, there is a strong likelihood that it is so, IMO.
As far as I know, no one in the hobby has records of the ARODIE chips. The ARODIE blanks were made by the Burt Co. and sold to distributors, who applied the hot stamps. No hot stamps were done at the Burt Co. Their finished products were "center inlay" chips and checks.
Here is the main problem; there was a fire at the Burt Co. in 1953 and all records before 1953 were destroyed. There is a fine article on ARODIE chips by Gene Trimble, written a year or two ago, in the CC>CC magazine.
