You said: "If I in fact own the chip ...". I am not sure if anyone can actually "own" a casino chip. It seems to me that the casinos retain ownership of the chip, especially roulettes, and just allow you to use them. I would say that you can have custody of a casino chip, but I am not really sure if you own can own one. Isn't it pretty much the same thing as having a library book out on loan or a video tape from Blockbuster? And even if you did "own" a chip, you would only own the use of the chip and not the design, same as a book. Why is this so complicated?? My head hurts.
