Speaking of lack of promotion, I read the column in the Las Vegas RJ the week of the CC>CC convention where the list of conventions is set forth and ours was not mentioned. Some family reunion was mentioned but not us. Is it the duty of the hotel to get out that publicity or should we do it. Three years ago I suggested that we advertise in the other free poker magazine; that was done and who shows up at the front table, none other than Linda Johnson. Advertising pays. On the other hand now that we're know, what happened to me will probably recur again; I'm at Harrahs playing in the low stakes 7 Stud game when a lady sits down, takes out a bunch of chips and says to the Dealer, "Is this one any good?" I look at it and it is the Bi-centennial Harrahs' check. Before I can say anything, [I was certainly going to offer $10 for it] the dealer says, "Not here, but there are collectors who will pay alot for that chip." I, not knowing when to keep my big mouth shut, chime in, "there's a convention at the Aladdin starting tomorrow where we buy, sell and trade chips." She then thanks me, puts the chip into a bottomless pit of her purse and said, "Well, I'd better wait until tomorrow." I don't know what happened to the chip, but I didn't get it. Too much publicity can be harmful to us sharks, folks.
