I was actually the guy that owned the sportsbook at Little Caesars. Gene and I had an agreement that we would keep it quiet.
I remember the day Gene got so mad at me for taking that $1 million bet from Stupak that he put my name up on the marquee. I told him he had two hours to take it down or else I would talk to someone at Bally's, have them buy the property, then tear down his casino and put up a French themed megaresort. He dared me to do it and, well, the rest is history.
(I probably should have waited until April 1st to tell that story!)
The truth is that one very late night (or was it early morning?) during a drunken stupor somewhere on Fremont Street, an old, old, old chip trader, chip story teller, and PhD of BS told me that people shouldn't write their names across scans when they post them on the Internet, but should instead add something small to the picture just to be able to prove it as their own. I kind of compromised!
