On the chip display there are 3 sheets of plastic. The one in the middle has holes where you place the chip, and the two outside sheets are solid. See below (it's hard to photogragh clear plastic, but I think you can see what I'm talking about)

In the note holders there are just 2 sheets, that way I can put whatever size item I want inbetween.
