Good question, Trav.
Actually, in "The Chip Rack" we give every single Nevada chip we know of a unique, permanent TCR number. You're right: it does add a substantial number of numbers to the book, but that way everyone knows precisely what he has, and we don't have the problem of numbers becoming 47 digits long, with hyphens and other symbols in them.
I have a slightly different question that we've kicked around. Is it necessary to list every different color and number or letter of roulette chip in TCR? Does it add significantly to collectors' knowledge and understanding of the value of those chips, since all the colors, numbers and letters of roulettes of the same type from each casino are all the same value anyway?
I've maintained that we could save space by listing only one roulette chip of each known TYPE from each casino. I've been overruled. <G>
My thorough co-authors want TCR to be a complete catalog of Nevada gaming checks and chips, and listing everything we know of or can find out about makes the book as close to that goal as it can possibly be. I'm pretty proud of the result, as they are!
