The only one I remember at the Trop shop was the Silver Slipper. It wasn't last month that we saw it....it was either in February, or last October. At this point I don't even remember exactly what it looked like...just that it was the triangle shape and said Silver Slipper.

There were at least 2 fake 'trays on eBay a few months ago. One was the Mint. I suspected that was a fake, as it was a 'dutch auction' with about $5.99 opening bid. We bought one anyway. Before the ashtray arrived, we got an email from another collector. He'd received his, and 2 books of matches with it. The matches had a website address, so he contacted the seller concerning the age of the 'trays. The seller acknowledged that the ashtray was a newly created "retro" piece, and said he hadn't meant to deceive. (sighhhhh.... ) He offered a full refund. We opted to keep ours. The next time those ashtrays were listed, they were listed as new or reproduction or something like that.

The same seller had another "retro" casino ashtray listed at the same time....but I don't remember where it was from.

It's getting tough to try to collect anything old, there's always someone out there trying to make a buck...at the expense of the collector.
