This little question of variation has really been interesting to me. The pc I show has zero mention of any gaming at the Elwell. A family owned establishment but Doug mentions a Carl Amante being on the gaming license as well as a couple of Elwells. Following Jeff's info, perhaps Amante wanted the postal side to have a casio blurb and that is where the extra car image enters the picture. The autos parked on the street are a '52-3 Merc and a '52-3 Pontiac or Olds and I thought it curious that the casino operation was unmentioned on the card even though the pc was probably contempary with the gaming. I'd imagine it'd be pretty easy to add a car and obscure the pedestrian creating another version of the pc with a different message. Would be cool to see that other card.
Another scenario, the photog took one exposure, lit a cigarette (since everyone smoked back them!) noticed a new car in the frame and took that picture as well. I wonder if he could sell and/or copyright both pictures as different images ar would they be too similar in content. Sell one image to ABC Postcards and the other to XYZ? Take one for his client ABC and use the other on a self produced pc to undercut ABC? Double dealing in Postcard Land, the Big PC War!? Gosh, guess I ought to obsess about something else for the rest of the day!
