Bob-
OK, I wouldn't put Kid Rock in the same class as Bon, but maybe Brian Johnson.
Actually, I have no idea whether his music will last. What I like about it is that it is straight-out party rock -- in the tradition of AC/DC. And come on, when "Back In Black" came out there wasn't a critic in AMerica that thought it would be remembered in 20 yers. In fact, i once joked to Angus and Brian that I think I bought "Back In Black" and Styx's "Paradise Theater" around the same time. And if you had polled every rock critic in AMerica at the time, 99.9% of them probably would have predicted Paradise THeater" would have more staying power. It's funny how things work out.
Kid ROck does some cool stuff. He mixes rap, rock, and country (real country)-- pretty much taking the simple bad-ass party anthem aspect of all of them. (Of course mixing black and white music is a Detroit tradition -- I'm no tclaiming he's a pioneer) He's no artist, but there's not much that I enjoy as much as "Devil Without A Cause" after tapping a keg.
