While just about everyone else was on holiday, I ended up working all weekend. But as usual I'm prone to telling people about chip collecting and asking if they have any old ones laying around the house. I was bartending this weekend at the Chinese place and a guy brought this in for me. (nice tip)
First of all, it's not a casino chip, but it is a gambling chip. It is obsolete as the track is closed. I think it's kind of unusual and possibly very unusual because according to the guy who gave it to me, you had to take a junket bus to the track, and then they would give you these to spend for food and drink or gamble on the ponies. (aka horse chips?)
Arlington International Racecourse $5.00 Maroon HHR.
It's from Arlington Heights, IL. The track burned down, was rebuilt and has closed. I'm not sure if this is pre-fire or from the later "new" track.
The other side of this chip has "$5" in silver, instead of the logo and the word five. Both the logo and the $5 only look silver if viewed at an angle. Straight on they look white.
