Let me try a different approach. If, in the entire issue of chips with the mistake (incorrect spelling), you were to find one or two chips that had 25¢ on one side and $25 on the other side, those would be error chips. IOW, an error chip is one that is different from those made in the same manufacturing run.
There are a number of chips and tokens with misspelled words on them. Gaming regulations in some jurisdictions may require the chips to be removed from play, but that doesn't change the status of what they are. When all of the chips are the same, they are not error chips.
