I'd call what she did "putting a spin" on what was supposed to be a straight news article. There is a bias evident in the way the article was written. Chances are, she'd deny that the article is biased in any way. ....as probably would her editor.

I find such work to be all too common these days. Straight news stories should show no bias. Opinion pieces belong on the editorial pages.
