I think if I was you I'd still personalize it so that I only saw the last two days messages. Then, on the occasions when that wasn't enough, just change it back to a week, or whatever, and all the messages will be there, ready to be read.

Without hiring a programmer to modify the code there just isn't any way to change it.

Also, leaving it at 2 days speeds things up quite a bit.
