No, No John - the shoe problem was at Holland casino in Amsterdam. We were doing the tourist thing and had an hour to kill after deciding that my wife really DIDN'T need the $10,000 1 carat diamond offered at the diamond cutter. I noticed that everyone was going into the casino in casual clothes so I figured I would try my luck. The clothes were fine. My running shoes were not! Had to go around the corner to a store where they had a sales rack labelled "casino shoes". Yes these were the dregs of the leather shoes they offered. I laid down my $50 for the shoes (which were 1/2 size too small), plus the casino entry fee and managed to lose $70 in an hour. Left considerably poorer and with no slot cards and no chips since they were identical to the chips in the other Holland casino we were in earlier in the week. Sometimes you just can't win. Then again you can't win if you don't try.
