I have no doubt the issue will sell-out. The question then becomes, where does the price settle? Autographed Barris sets seem to sell for a lot right now with (I think I read somewhere) 1300 sets out there and fewer autographed. (TCR lists autographed set at $400 to $449). SO we add 1000 more sets to the mix. Presumably the same percentage will be autographed. But keep in mind, despite the fact that many will roll their eyes when I say this, as the first was dated, this will be a slightly different autograph. A hardcore collector may want both. Firthermore, a total of 2300 sets is still naot a huge issue forthe Hard Rock. So where do you see the price settling when the dust clears? Don't tell me this is suddenly a $20 set.
A few more random thoughts.
1) I'd love to know whay the Hard Rock can't at least issue a different case. I know it wouldn't make most people happy, but it would be a different set to some extent.
2) To the real tech geeks, how EXACT will a second issue be? Security is constantly evolving with chips, correct? So have there been and changes in the way the chip company (PaulSon I believe) makes their product that would make a 2002 distinguichable from a 1997 -- at least to an expert?
3) I find it interesting that TCR does not list a "Number Of Chips" manufactured forthe Barris set. IS that simpyl because they didn't have the edition printed on the chip.
Anyone interested in kicking these thoughts around, I can't wait to hear them.
