Well, the California lottery is back up to $84,000,000. A heck of a lot of money but, assumming one winning ticket split 10 ways, is $8.4 million each. Being that I am going to opt for a one time single payment, I expect that it is now going to reduce that amount to approximately 4½ million. Now reduce that by around 39% for Federal taxes and we are left with a million and three quarters or maybe 2 million.
Now again, 2 million bucks is nothing to sneeze at. At 3% annual interest, that comes out to about $60,000 a year (before taxes) for each of us.
What am I getting at? Well, this is just a round about way of telling you that I think 10 particapants is the maximum that should be allowed into this pool. Yep, another pool folks.
I must cut this off Monday afternoon at around 3:00 PM PDT as I am leaving on a slot card run on Tuesday, and must buy the tickets sometime Monday and post the numbers on the board before I leave so you will know this is on the up and up.
These are the simple rules:
First 10 people will contribute $20 each.
I will buy 20 tickets each for the next 10 drawings. (this way if no one hits the lottery this coming Wednesday, we will still be in the running on saturday and for the following month [two drawings a week.]
And now the most important rule. Please send me your $20.00 ASAP to the address below. I will be out of circulation until the end of next week so you will not be able to contact me until then.
If we don't have 10 participants, I will go with how ever many we do have. I WILL NOT ACCEPT ANYONE WHO USES THEIR FIRST NAME ONLY AND I DON'T WANT TO HAVE TO WRITE MULTIPLE E-MAILS TO YOU TO GET YOUR ADDRESS. Please conform to this simple request. Thanx.
