Al; I didn't see any reference to "The Good Old Days" anywhere in my post. If that's what you read, then you missed the whole point of the message.
I opened my post with the following line....
".... this is how this country has changed in a relatively short period of time."
Of course there were abuses back then and horrific world events such as World War II, Korean War, VietNam, assasinations of John and Robert Kennedy and Martin Luther King, dropping of the atomic bomb on Japan, the race riots and burning of major U.S. cities and the American Flag ... right up to 9/11. I never said that those were the good old days .... but merely commented on how much our society has changed in such a short period of time .... and how the meaning of our language and culture has changed over those relatively short number of years..... just like today when outright fake and altered chips are being referred to in much softer, pleasant terms such as "non-genuine" and "remanufactured" and "restored".
Political correctness has taken over this country ... and our hobby. We no longer can offend anyone by telling it like it is .... or was.... we must sugar-coat our words and choose them carefully or we are hauled into court for calling someone a name. I hope I'm around 25 years from now to witness the changes you say you are looking forward to.
