Good Morning Archie,
You are missing nothing - the $150.00 starting price, whether it be called a reserve, minimum etc. really doesn't matter. The fact is a bidder must start the bidding at $150,00. There is MUCH double talk in our hobby.<G> Sometimes it is done on purpose - often it is just the result of complicating what we do.
The real questions roulette collectors should be asking themselves are:
1) Why is this chip, that use to sell from $700.00 to a $1,000.00, now being placed in auction with a $150.00 starting price???
2) Is this chip one among the many Dune's chips currently dug up with concrete all over it.<G>
3) How many have you seen lately?
4) Are there more floating around?
5) Since I am interested in this chip maybe I should call around to my fellow collectors and find out if they heard or know anything about this chip.
6) Are there any different colors around?
7) Is this another Glass Crutch???
8) Ask the person in charge to tell us more about the chip.
These questions are but a few of the many collectors should answer for themselves when looking at chips to purchase or bid on over $100.00. When all these and more questions have been answered THAN AND ONLY THAN can one feel comfortable in going after a chip. By the way, what I am saying applies MORE to Ebay than this particular situation.
Have a "Great" day Archie!! Best, Jim
