It sounds farily cut-and-dry that the notion that the club somehow doesn't own the logo is completely unfounded. What they didn't own was the copyright, but they've been granted permission to use the artwork. They 100% own the Trademark. If they haven't registered it yet, they should. But even if they haven't, they own it and have a responsibility to protect it.
